Boosting the efficiency of Leonard Cheshire care homes

The Challenge

Leonard Cheshire partnered with Attenti at a time when they were looking to make significant strategic changes and re design their operating model.
The organisation’s aim was to achieve financial stability, improve the service offered to residents, and increase the efficiency of services Attenti were engaged to gather organisational data, provide recommendations and an evidence base for the short, medium and long term strategy.

The Solution

Attenti designed a collaborative programme to ensure all work was in line with Leonard Cheshire’s strategic objectives & that operational staff were involved in the journey. The solution involved three simultaneous pieces of work:
1. Completing resident assessments, identifying process improvements & shortfalls.
2. Conducting a full service review of all 32 locations with comprehensive analysis to uncover strategic opportunities.
3. Provide adult social care commissioning and market insight to inform business sustainability and growth strategy

Delivery

1. Resident Assessments: Attenti completed 280 assessments on behalf of 32 services, creating a centralised data set for the efficient tracking of care details, associated fees & charges.

2. Service Reviews: Comprehensive reviews were conducted at all 32 locations to:
  • Highlight positive operational management of staffing costs.
  • Provide a detailed data pack for informed decision making and strategy, including financial benchmarks, and areas of opportunity.

3. Offer evidence based service specific recommendations around admissions policies, building a sustainable resident profile, enhancing reablement offerings,
maximising on service specific environmental factors utilising MI and financial data.

4. Utilise market data and insight combined with data collected from individual service reviews to identify commercial diversification opportunities as well as creative ways to utilise current assets

5. Identify exemplar reference sites to inform the strategic service proposition
