DFE & Mott MacDonald

CASE STUDY

The National Assessment & Accreditation System (NAAS).

The DfE appointed Mott MacDonald to deliver the National Assessment and Accreditation System (NAAS) in 2017 and Attenti Consulting has been supporting this programme as a consortium partner from the outset.

Challenge:

  • Mott McDonald was looking for a partner to recruit, train and support specialised children’s services consultants to assess, grade and moderate children’s practitioners and practice supervisors during the accreditation process.

NASS aims to:

  • Provide social workers with a better understanding of their current level of knowledge and skill and highlight areas for further development
  • Support employers to raise the national standard and consistency of practice and improve outcomes for children and families
  • Ensure employers better understand their workforce development needs through the practice endorsement processes including supervision, performance management and learning and development.

Outcome:

  • 1,600 social workers assessed and accredited
  • Attenti worked with Mott MacDonald to engage 30 expert social work professionals with the skills and experience to be assessors, including workforce development, practice education, practice improvement, coaching and HEI lecturing
  • Attenti supported the delivery of approximately 300 assessment centres.
“Attenti Consulting have been an excellent consortium partner for Mott MacDonald in sourcing qualified social workers with just the right skills and experience to assess candidates taking part in NAAS. Since 2018, Neill and his colleagues have undertaken all onboarding activities, organised assessor attendance at assessment centres in over 20 locations across England and dealt with processing day rate payments for the assessors.”
